The Supreme Court regarding the issue of unsafe conditions faced by impecunious widows living across the country has asked the Centre if State Commissions for Women (SCW) actually exist. During a recent hearing it stated that there is a lack of response received from the States in the matter and has directed the Secretary at the Ministry of Women and Child Development to convey its “sentiments” to the State Governments.
