The Supreme Court has endorsed the amendment carried out by the Karnataka Legislature for the Prevention of Child Marriage Act, which proclaims that every child marriage is void ab initio. It also stated that sexual intercourse between a minor wife and her husband is illegal under the POSCO Act and every state should adopt the path taken by Karnataka.
A week after the Tamil Nadu government set up an inquiry commission to probe AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa’s death, a petition has been moved before the Madras High Court by PA Joseph seeking a stay on the commission and declaring it “illegal”.
