The Supreme Court dismissed the petition which aimed a clarification from the Centre for the postpone in concluding the memorandum of the procedure (MOP) for appointment of judges to the Supreme Court and High Courts and which also questioned continuing appointments even when the MOP had not been finalised. There was no need to proceed in this issue according to SC.
The Madras High Court probe into the issue of lawyers acting as goons while dealing with a petition moved by second year MBBS students of Annai Medical College and Hospital. It has blamed Bar Council of India for institutionalizing mediocrity in the profession by un-methodically granting permission to law colleges and creating disproportionate demand and supply of lawyers in the society.
